Why You Might See a Dog at Pebbles Therapy Clinic

At Pebbles Therapy Clinic, we care deeply about creating a warm, welcoming space where healing and growth feel a little easier. One of the ways we support that? An occasional visit from an Emotional Support Dog.

You might spot a friendly four legged friend in the clinic who is eager to get a pat or a rub. They're not just there for the cuddles (though those are nice, too!)—they’re part of our commitment to emotional wellbeing.

So, why an Emotional Support Dog?

Emotional Support Dogs aren’t just adorable—they can also offer real therapeutic benefits, especially for people managing anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm.

Some of the evidence-based benefits include:

🐾 Lowering stress levels
Research shows that simply being near a dog can reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) and increase oxytocin (the feel-good hormone).

🐾 Helping clients feel more grounded
A calm dog’s presence can help people feel anchored in the moment—especially helpful for those experiencing anxiety, trauma symptoms, or sensory overload.

🐾 Reducing feelings of isolation
Dogs are non-judgmental companions. For clients who are nervous about starting therapy or opening up, a friendly dog can help make the space feel safer and more connected.

🐾 Supporting emotional regulation
Petting or sitting near a dog can help regulate heart rate and breathing, making it easier for clients to engage in therapy from a calmer place.

🐾 Creating a softer, more inviting environment
Let’s be real: therapy can be hard. A wagging tail or quiet presence nearby can help make tough moments feel a little more manageable.

🐾 What to Expect

  • The dog is fully vaccinated, well-behaved, and always supervised.

  • They won’t be in your session unless you’re comfortable with it and have agreed in advance.

  • They’re quiet, gentle, and love people—but they’re never pushy.

🛑 Not a Dog Person?

Totally okay! We understand that dogs aren’t for everyone. Whether you have an allergy, a fear, or just prefer a pet-free space, we’re more than happy to make sure your visit is completely dog-free. Just let us know when booking or check in with reception when you arrive.

At Pebbles Therapy Clinic, we know that healing looks different for everyone. For some, it includes talk therapy, movement, or creative expression. For others, it might also include a quiet, friendly dog curled up nearby.

Questions? Concerns? Want to meet the pup? Just ask—we’re always happy to chat. 🐾
